Flying With A Dog
Whether you are a frequent traveler or you are planning a
"trip of a lifetime" or relocating, you may one day have to
take your dog with you on an airplane.
Obviously, you will need to start by checking
the airline regulations! Some airlines will not allow
your dog on board; some check pets into the cargo area; others
allow your dog in the cabin with you.
The proper carrier

If your dog is allowed to fly with you, make sure that you
have a good way to keep him contained. The trip will
be traumatic enough for your dog, so make sure that
the carrier you use will be comfortable! Your carrier
needs to fit the required space (whether it be cargo cabin or
the seat next to you) and also be appropriate for the dog
(and perhaps able to accommodate a few of his possessions to
help him feel at home and reduce stress).
Papers
Make sure that you have everything you need when it comes to
your dog's papers. You may need to prove that
your dog has a clean bill of health, and some airlines
require a thorough medical examination before they will
let him fly. He must be up to date with his
shots and vaccinations.
Arrival
Get to the airport early. This will give you time
to make it through security without a problem, and without
hurrying - which can be stressful for all involved!
